Snowmobile Trail Conditions

Effective Today 2/23/2018 – The Down East Sunrise Trail is closed until May 15 or further notice for mud season to all uses, except foot traffic is allowed. Closure signs have been posted at all paved road crossings and parking areas along the trail. In the event that we should get snow again it may reopen for winter uses such as snowmobiling, dog sledding and cross country skiing.

  • Before venturing out on snowmobile trails please call and talk with the clubs to see what is going on; and consider lending a hand.
  • To find a club near you check the Maine Snowmobile Association website.
  • If a trail is not signed as a snowmobile trail then don’t ride it. 95% of snowmobile trails are on private property and going where you are not supposed to be could close trails for good.

THANK YOU & ride safely.

Attention Trail Riders:

  • When crossing railroad tracks be careful not to spin snow onto the tracks. Over time this snow builds up creating a ramping effect that has caused train derailment. These rail lines are privately owned and can be closed, which would fracture the trail system.
  • Stop at all railroad crossings.
  • Ride right.
