Recreation & Canoe Trips

Unplug and reconnect with your inner wild child. Observe wildlife in their natural environment, have a cup of fresh Guide’s coffee as the sun rises over the lake, cook over an open fire, watch the sun set from your camp site on the river’s bend…We can do that, and more.

Day Trips and Multi-Day Expeditions By Canoe

Canoe adventures are one of our most highly sought after recreation activities. We offer single day, multi-day and full on expedition trips in the wilderness and tranquility of the Maine woods and waters. Every trip is tailored to the clients wants and needs. Family and kid friendly trips available. We factor in experience level, stamina requirements, dietary considerations and trip goals to ensure you have the Maine outdoors experience of a lifetime…

BASKAHEGAN STREAM PADDLING TRIP (TOPSFIELD TO DANFORTH)

This lesser known, remote canoe trip is mostly flatwater, and offers excellent opportunities for small mouth bass fishing, moose watching and viewing beaver, otter, eagles, and waterfowl. It makes for a great one to four day soft adventure with several put-in and take-out options. The trip is dependent upon water levels, typically it can be paddled from early May to early June, and in the fall when the water level is sufficient.

MATTAWAMKEAG PADDLE TRIP (HAYNESVILLE TO WYTOPITLOCK)

For the first few miles the river is broad, winding through maple swamps with a good current. The river parallels roads for some of its length, but these low-trafficked roads only occasionally seen, and the river retains a wild feel. This water is canoeable most of the year except during periods of extremely low water.

The river offers good to excellent fishing for smallmouth bass along the entire trip, and early spring may produce fair fishing for brook trout.

Cost & Duration

Every trip is unique, just like our clients. Trips are available on a seasonal basis and as water levels allow for canoeing. The typical season starts around mid-May and runs through the end of July. For most fully outfitted trips, the average cost is $200/day per traveler (16 and over) with kids under 16 traveling free when accompanied with a paying adult. Canoes, tents, camping & cooking gear are all provided by your guide. Personal items to make your trip more comfortable are recommended. Our trips are true back country experiences – Your guide will discuss the ins and outs of what you may want to bring and what to leave at home when you book your trip.
